Bringing in documents

Upload files, whole folders and zips. A project can hold thousands of documents. Emails keep their attachments.

A project can hold thousands of documents. You can bring them in two ways, and mix them freely.

Upload

Open the project and go to Documents. Drag files or whole folders onto it, or choose Upload.

  • Folders keep their structure, so a drawing register or a correspondence archive arrives the way your team filed it.
  • Zips are unpacked into their documents.
  • Emails saved as .eml or .msg are read with their attachments.
  • PDFs, including scanned PDFs, Word documents and spreadsheets are all read.

Astruct files each document into the project’s folders: Contract, Correspondence, Variations, Delays and EOTs, Notices, Claims, Programme, Site records, Drawings and Other.

Connect a mailbox

Connect Outlook and attachments from project mail are filed as they arrive. See Connecting Outlook. SharePoint and Procore are available on request. See Procore, Gmail and SharePoint.

How long it takes

Small uploads are ready in moments. A large archive takes longer, because each page is read so it can be searched and cited. You can keep working while it finishes. Everything you’ve uploaded appears in Library, which lists documents across all your projects.

Tips

  • Upload the executed contract, not a tender draft.
  • Include the programme and the drawing register. They help Astruct spot delays and revised drawings.
  • If a scanned page is hard to read on screen, it is hard for Astruct too. Rescan it if you can.
