Plain-English search
Describe what you are looking for in your own words and Astruct finds it by meaning.
You don’t need to know the exact words a document used. In Search, choose Plain English and describe what you are looking for.
Examples
- where the head contractor said the bracket change costs nothing
- emails about the crane being out of service
- the latest programme’s date for the L6 slab edge handover
- any direction to work out of sequence
Plain-English search finds documents by meaning, so the crane being out of service also finds an email that says TC1 has been out of service since yesterday morning.
When to use which
| Use Plain English when | Use Boolean when |
|---|---|
| You know what happened but not the words used | You know the exact words, references or phrases |
| You want the most relevant few results | You need every document that matches |
| You are exploring | You are checking something thoroughly, such as for a claim |
Both search the same documents and mail, and both show the page each result was found on. For the Boolean operators, see Boolean search syntax.
If you want an answer rather than a list of documents, ask the question in a chat instead. See Asking good questions.
